NISWASEC COMMEMORATES WORLD PUBLIC RELATIONS DAY 2026.

The Niger State Water and Sewage Corporation (NISWASEC) has joined the rest of the world in commemorating the 2026 World Public Relations Day, reaffirming its commitment to strategic communication as a vital tool for effective public service delivery.
The celebration, held at the Corporation’s Conference Room in Minna, was organised by the Public Relations Unit and convened by the Public Relations Manager, Zainab Yunusa, under the theme, “The Golden Age of Strategic Public Relations.” The event brought together members of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), management and staff of the Corporation, communication professionals, and other stakeholders.
In his remarks, the Managing Director of NISWASEC, Engr. Gimba D. Yisa, welcomed participants and commended the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) for its unwavering commitment to promoting professionalism and ethical public relations practice. He called for stronger collaboration between the Corporation and the Institute, noting that strategic communication remains essential in informing the public about the Corporation’s activities and the critical services it provides to the people of Niger State.
The Managing Director further highlighted the commitment of the Niger State Government, under the leadership of Farmer Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago, towards improving access to potable water across the state through the rehabilitation and expansion of water infrastructure, as well as other strategic interventions aimed at ensuring sustainable water supply for the people of Niger State.
Speaking at the event, the Chairman of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), Niger State Chapter, Alhaji Mahmud Abdullahi, described public relations as a strategic profession that builds credibility, promotes public confidence, and enhances institutional reputation. He appreciated the Management of NISWASEC, particularly the convener of the programme, Zainab Yunusa, for successfully organising the celebration and called for sustained collaboration between the Corporation and the Institute. He also encouraged eligible staff and communication practitioners to become registered members of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations to strengthen professionalism in the practice.
Also speaking, the Director of Information, Niger State Ministry of Information, emphasized the importance of professionalism in information management and communication, stressing that membership of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations is essential for Public Relations, Information and Media Officers in promoting ethical and effective communication across Ministries, Departments and Agencies.
As part of activities marking the celebration, the Chairman of NIPR decorated the Managing Director of NISWASEC with the official NIPR muffler in recognition of his support for the public relations profession and strategic communication.
Following the event, the NIPR delegation paid courtesy visits to the Honourable Commissioner and the Head of Service, Niger State, where they were also decorated with the commemorative NIPR muffler in celebration of the 2026 World Public Relations Day. During the visits, the NIPR Chairman appealed to the State Government to continue supporting the Institute by encouraging all Public Relations, Information and Media Officers across Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) to formally register with the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations in line with the provisions of the NIPR Act.
The celebration featured goodwill messages, decoration of dignitaries, and a group photograph, and concluded with a renewed commitment by stakeholders to strengthen strategic communication and promote professional public relations practice in Niger State.
