EDO POLICE CP ORDERS PROBE AFTER TRAFFIC OFFICERS AND POLICE CLASH

The Edo State Police Command has launched a discreet investigation into a viral video showing an altercation between the Intelligence Response Team (IRT) and Edo State Traffic Management Agency (EDSTMA) officers.

The incident, which gained attention after being shared on X, captured an IRT officer firing his rifle into the air during the dispute.

Following the viral footage, Edo State Commissioner of Police, CP Patrick Daaor, interviewed representatives from both agencies and ordered a thorough investigation into the conflict.

Additionally, the officer filmed firing the weapon will face an official disciplinary review.In a statement by Police Public Relations Officer ASP Eno Ikoedem, the command emphasized its zero-tolerance policy for unprofessional conduct and abuse of power.

Officials assured the public that any officer found guilty will face strict sanctions under existing laws.

While maintaining that this incident will not damage the working relationship between the police command and EDSTMA, the authorities urged the public to report any future police misconduct directly to the Complaint Response Unit rather than taking matters into their own hands.
