BENUE FORMER GOVERNOR SETS TO CONTEST FOR SENATE UNDER APC

Benue State former Governor, Senator Gabriel Suswam, has formally declared his intention to contest for the Benue North-East Senatorial District seat on the platform of All Progressives Congress during the 2027 general elections.

The former Governor who disclosed this during an interview on Arise TV, recently,  described the move as a “political realignment” driven by conviction rather than personal interest.

It will be recalled that Gabriel Suswam in February, announced his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress ( APC), although PDP claimed he had effectively left the party long ago.

” Benue State historically usually aligns with a single dominant party, and the state was under PDP control 16 years before shifting to the APC'” he said

“As a Benue son, I won’t be an exception to what my people want and what my people believe. They now believe in the principles and philosophy of the APC,” he said.

As regards to 2027 general election, the two-term former governor said, “I’m a politician. And as a politician, if you are still strong enough to contest an election, you always want to contest elections.” he said
