APC GOVERNORS’ FORUM IN CRISIS

A Fresh crisis has reportedly hit the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF) as rival factions within All Progressives Congress (APC) Governors’ body have reportedly elected Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma and Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah as their chairmen respectively.
It was reported that the disagreements over internal party control, strategic positioning ahead of the 2027 general elections, and influence over the direction of the APC have intensified tensions among governors under the PGF umbrella.
According to insiders, the rivalry became more obvious after recent closed-door meetings involving key APC stakeholders ended without a unified position on critical national and party matters.
The Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, who currently chairs the Progressive Governors Forum, is believed to be having the support of several governors pushing for continuity in the existing power structure within the ruling APC. On the other hand, the Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun is reportedly aligning with another camp that elected Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State as their chairman.
If urgent reconciliation efforts are not initiated the party insiders fear that the growing division could weaken the APC’s internal cohesion.
Although neither faction has officially confirmed the existence of a split, political observers note that recent public statements and strategic meetings by loyalists of both camps suggest a deepening struggle for influence within the ruling party.
