#210 TRILLION AUDIT QUERIES, SENATE TO GRILL NNPCL BOSSES


The leadership of Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL ) has been summoned by the Senate Committee on Public Accounts to appear before it on April 29, 2026, over audit queries amounting to a cumulative N210 trillion spanning 2017 to 2023.
According to the online report, the directive follows concerns raised by the Office of the Auditor-General of the Federation regarding discrepancies and unresolved financial issues in the company’s records.
The Chief Executive Officer of NNPCL, Bayo Ojulari, would lead the delegation, accompanied by former GCEO Mele Kyari, ex-Chief Financial Officer Umar Ajia, Bala Wunti, as well as the company’s external auditors.
However, the Chairman Senate committee on public Account, Ahmed Wadada, during the plenary deliberations emphasized the need for comprehensive clarification, noting that previous responses submitted by the company failed to adequately address the audit concerns. iOS Apps
Senator Wadada explained that the panel is particularly interested in obtaining a detailed breakdown of liabilities, including retention fees, legal expenses, and audit-related costs, as well as further clarification on joint venture cash call expenditures and other financial entries highlighted in the audit reports.

Speaking further, he stressed that the committee requires transparent and detailed explanations to effectively carry out its oversight responsibilities, urging strict adherence to the scheduled appearance date.
