ZONE 7 HEADQUARTERS MARKS 2026 CHILDREN’S DAY CELEBRATION WITH THEME: “LET’S MAKE A CHILD SMILE”

The Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 7 Headquarters, Abuja, AIG Victor Olaiya, psc(+) has commemorated the 2026 Children’s Day celebration with a series of impactful and community-centered activities under the theme: “Let’s Make a Child Smile.”

The celebration, which aligns with the vision and strategic goals of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc(+), NPM towards strengthening community policing, public engagement, and youth development, featured several outreach programmes across the Federal Capital Territory.

Activities carried out during the celebration included school visits, child safety awareness campaigns, “Meet a Police Officer” interactive sessions, visits to motherless babies’ homes, as well as the distribution of food items and educational materials to children.

The initiative was aimed at promoting child welfare, encouraging safety consciousness among children and fostering positive relationships between young people and the Police.

AIG Victor Olaiya, emphasized that children are the foundation of a safer and stronger society and must be nurtured in an environment that supports peace, learning, protection and opportunity. He noted that the Nigeria Police Force remains committed to people-oriented policing and community partnership as key components of effective security delivery.

The AIG further expressed profound appreciation to all individuals, organizations and partners who supported the various outreach activities, noting that their partnership and collaboration played a vital role in bringing smiles to the faces of children and strengthening the bond between the police and the community.

Zone 7 Headquarters therefore urges Parents, Schools, Community leaders and Stakeholders to continue partnering with the Police in safeguarding children and building a safer future for all.
