ZAMFARA TERROR: BANDITS UNLEASH ATTACK ON GOVERNOR’S CHIEF OF STAFF
A convoy carrying Mouktar Lugga, the Chief of Staff to the Zamfara State Governor, narrowly escaped a band of suspected bandits who opened fire on them during an evening ambush near Kucheri village along the Funtua–Gusau highway.
Despite the intense gunfire which left at least one bullet hole in the windshield of Lugga’s vehicle all occupants escaped unharmed thanks to the quick thinking of the driver, who managed to safely steer the vehicle out of the danger zone.
This brazen assault on a high-profile government official has sharply intensified public anxiety regarding Nigeria’s worsening highway security crisis.
It underscores a troubling reality for regular commuters: if heavily protected state convoys can be targeted so openly, ordinary citizens face an even greater risk on the country’s vulnerable roads.
