GUNMEN KILL FAMILY OF NINE, INCLUDING TWO- MONTH -OLD BABY, IN PLATEAU…
No fewer than nine members of a single family, including a two-month-old baby, have been killed by armed Gunmen in a late-night attack on Kum and Wereng-Camp communities in Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The attackers according to the source stormed the communities on Saturday, July 11 at about 11:30 pm, opening fire and attacking homes for more than an hour. The village head was also critically injured and taken to hospital for treatment.
A resident who spoke on the condition of anonymity said the gunmen entered homes and killed several people, adding that the victims in one house were all from the same family, including a two-month-old infant. Another resident described the attack as horrific and appealed to the government to strengthen security in the area.
However, the Berom Youth Moulders Association (BYM) also confirmed the attack and called on security agencies to arrest those responsible and improve security in vulnerable communities across Riyom. As of the time of reporting, the Plateau State Police Command had not issued an official statement on the incident.
