NAF TARGETS  KIDNAPPERS IN BENUE FOREST BLITZ

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has launched a strategic air operation targeting suspected kidnappers hiding in a dense forest within the Ogbadigbo Local Government Area of Benue State, near the Enugu-Benue boundary.

Executed on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, the mission focused on providing vital close air support to ground troops advancing into the criminal hideouts.

Official reports from the NAF confirm that the targeted airstrikes successfully disrupted the kidnappers’ operations, clearing the path for surface forces to move deeper into the terrain.

The development was officially announced on Wednesday by the Director of Public Relations and Information at NAF Headquarters, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame.

This military intervention follows a surge in security threats along the Benue-Enugu border, an area where criminal syndicates have increasingly used the thick forests as operational bases.

In his statement, Air Commodore Ejodame also addressed and clarified circulating reports regarding a NAF helicopter that landed in the vicinity shortly after the operation.

He explained that while flying back to base after the successful mission, the pilot exercised professional discretion to make a precautionary landing about 10 nautical miles from the airfield.

The NAF spokesperson emphasized that the touchdown was a standard safety measure, executed in strict accordance with established military protocols for aircraft returning from combat zones.

Dismissing speculations that the aircraft was stranded or suffered an emergency, Ejodame confirmed that the helicopter safely took off again and returned to its base.

The Air Force reiterated that this joint operation highlights its dedication to reinforcing ground troops through well-coordinated aerial and surface maneuvers.

Furthermore, the NAF pledged to maintain relentless pressure on criminal networks, promising continuous air support to sister security agencies working to safeguard local communities.

While the operation was deemed a success, the NAF has not yet released specific details regarding casualties or the number of suspects arrested during the raid
