SPOTLIGHT: OLUSIN OF IJARA-ISIN, A ROYAL FATHER COMMITTED TO PEACE AND DEVELOPMENT
By Ayantunde Ayangbayi, JP

His Royal Highness, Oba (Pharmacist) Ajibola Ademola Julius Iluyomade I, the Olusin of Ijara-Isin in Isin Local Government Area of Kwara State, has continued to demonstrate a commitment to traditional leadership, community unity, cultural preservation and socio-economic development during his six years on the throne.
Popularly known as Amuludun Iluyomade I and “The Lion King,” the monarch is regarded by his admirers as a peace advocate, unifier and purposeful leader whose approach to traditional administration is anchored on service to the people rather than the exercise of authority.
A trained pharmacist and businessman, Oba Iluyomade brings professional experience, discipline, exposure and a strong sense of responsibility to his royal duties.
His educational background, professional accomplishments and appreciation of traditional institutions have also helped shape his approach to leadership and the preservation of Ijara-Isin’s cultural heritage.
The monarch’s philosophy of leadership is rooted in the belief that occupying a position of authority is a call to serve the people. This conviction has informed his stewardship since ascending the throne of his forebears, with emphasis on maintaining peace, strengthening communal relationships and promoting an environment conducive to development.
As a First-Class traditional ruler and an active member of the Kwara State Traditional Council, the Olusin is also involved in initiatives and committees aimed at promoting unity and security within his domain.
His leadership has attracted recognition from supporters who describe him as a silent achiever, a bridge-builder and a monarch committed to the welfare of his subjects.
Ijara-Isin’s Development Prospects
Ijara-Isin, an Igbomina community in Kwara State, is home to farmers, traders, artisans, market women, students, entrepreneurs and talented young people whose contributions remain vital to the local economy.
The town’s development prospects depend largely on harnessing these human and economic resources, particularly by expanding opportunities for young people and strengthening the productive capacity of existing businesses.
Youth unemployment, limited access to business opportunities and the need for practical skills development remain important challenges requiring sustained attention from government at all levels, the private sector, community leaders and other stakeholders.
Against this background, a sustained development agenda for Ijara-Isin would benefit from initiatives that support agriculture, small businesses, vocational training, youth entrepreneurship and community-based economic activities.
Under Oba Iluyomade’s traditional leadership, there is optimism among his admirers that continued cooperation between the palace, government, indigenes and residents will help advance the town’s socio-economic aspirations.
The monarch’s emphasis on peace and unity is particularly significant, as a stable community provides a foundation for investment, commerce, social progress and the effective implementation of development programmes.
A Monarch with a Vision for His People
Beyond his royal responsibilities, Oba Iluyomade is described as a devoted family man, practising Christian, peace advocate and accomplished professional. His supporters consider him a source of pride to his royal family, his alma mater and his professional community.
His personal carriage, dignified appearance and communication skills are also regarded by admirers as attributes that complement his position as a traditional ruler.
As Ijara-Isin looks towards the future, the need to preserve its cultural identity while embracing opportunities for economic growth and social advancement remains paramount. The active participation of both young and older residents will be essential to achieving these goals.
The Olusin’s six years on the throne provide an opportunity to reflect on the responsibilities of traditional leadership and the importance of building enduring partnerships that can improve the lives of the people.
For Ijara-Isin to achieve its full potential, continued attention to peace, security, education, skills acquisition, agricultural development and entrepreneurship will be critical. These priorities require collective commitment from the palace, public institutions, community organisations and the people themselves.
As the monarch continues his reign, this writer joins other well-wishers in praying for divine wisdom, sound judgement, good health and greater accomplishments for His Royal Highness, Oba (Pharmacist) Ajibola Ademola Julius Iluyomade I, the Olusin of Ijara-Isin.
May his reign remain peaceful and fruitful, and may Ijara-Isin continue to make progress in unity, prosperity and cultural pride.
