KPAUTAGI HONOURED WITH TRADITIONAL MAT AT 634TH GANI FESTIVAL, REAFFIRMS COMMITMENT TO CULTURAL HERITAGE

The Kpautagi Campaign Team joined the people of Kutigi in Lavun Local Government Area, alongside distinguished guests, community leaders and cultural enthusiasts, to celebrate the historic 634th Gani Festival—a remarkable celebration of the rich cultural heritage, history and traditions of the people.

A major highlight of the colourful celebration was the presentation of a traditional mat to Hon. Adamu Suleiman Kpautagi as a symbol of appreciation, support and solidarity.

The gesture reflected the community’s recognition of his presence and commitment to identifying with the people, while also underscoring the importance of preserving the cultural values and traditions passed down from generation to generation.

Receiving the traditional gift, Kpautagi expressed appreciation for the honour, describing the mat as more than a cultural gift, but a powerful symbol of unity, identity, heritage and shared responsibility.

He reaffirmed his commitment to supporting initiatives that promote and protect the cultural heritage of the people, noting that culture remains an important bridge between generations and a foundation for community cohesion.

Following the official opening of the festival, the Chairman of the Gani Festival Committee, Alhaji Baba Madugu Kutigi, Turaki Kutigi, gave a historical account of the Gani Festival, highlighting its origin, significance and enduring legacy.

The Chairman of Lavun Local Government, Honourable Dr. Mohammed Alfa Ma’ali, also commended the committee for its dedication and efforts towards the successful hosting of the 634th edition, while warmly welcoming guests and participants.

The celebration was further enlivened by spectacular displays of traditional music, dance and cultural performances, creating an atmosphere of unity, pride and celebration.

The gathering demonstrated the enduring strength of Kutigi’s cultural heritage and the remarkable ability of traditional festivals to bring communities together while preserving the stories, values and customs of their ancestors.
