FIVE TESTIFY AGAINST ODOGWU ASABA IN RAPE, MANSLAUGHTER TRIAL

The prosecution has presented five witnesses and video evidence at the Delta State High Court in Asaba during the trial of popular content creator Ifeanyi Ogbonna, known as Odogwu Asaba. Ogbonna is facing charges of rape and manslaughter linked to the June 2026 death of 20-year-old Favour Agbro.
The witnesses who testified on Wednesday included Agbro’s father, brother, twin sister, the doctor responsible for her post-mortem examination, and the investigating police officer.
The defense counsel requested a temporary pause in the proceedings, asking for additional time to thoroughly review the prosecution’s witness statements and newly served evidence.
Led by Solicitor-General Omamuzo Erebe, SAN, and Director of Public Prosecutions Tejiri Anuhwin, the prosecution expressed readiness to push forward with the trial but agreed to the defense’s request to ensure a fair review of the legal materials.
Ogbonna, who previously pleaded not guilty before Justice Michael Nduka Obi on October 21, 2026, remains remanded at the Ogwashi-Uku Maximum Correctional Centre.
The case has been adjourned until November 19, 2026, for the continuation of the trial.
