AIRCRAFT ON BENIN-LAGOS MISSION CRASHES

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has confirmed that one of its ATR-42 aircraft crashed on Monday in Igbokoda, Ondo State, while executing a routine mission from Benin to Lagos.
A local community leader in the Ilaje Local Government Area headquarters verified that the incident occurred, noting that residents heard the impact but were still working to establish the exact location and specific details of the crash site.
Although the state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Jimoh Abayomi, initially stated he was unaware of the situation when contacted, the NAF subsequently released an official statement claiming ownership of the aircraft.
Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, the Director of Public Relations and Information, announced that the military branch has activated immediate search-and-rescue operations in coordination with emergency response agencies and relevant authorities to manage the aftermath of the accident.
