BAGO 2027: NON-NEGOTIABLE VICTORY IN NIGER STATE

The re-election of Niger State’s “Farmer Governor,” Mohammed Umar Bago, has been declared non-negotiable ahead of the 2027 general election.
The Chairman of Bida Local Government Area, Hon. Umar Mohammed Manko, made this assertion during a recent media chat with journalists in the local government area.
Hon. Manko highlighted that Governor Bago’s administration has performed creditably well over the last few years.
He cited massive infrastructural developments across the state, including the near-completion of the critical Minna–Bida Road, the ongoing 5-kilometre road networks across all local government areas, and internal road projects in Bida designed to link up with the major expressway.

Beyond roads, the Chairman commended the administration’s construction of ultra-modern primary healthcare facilities, improvements in potable water supply, and significant agricultural growth.
According to the Council Chairman, the long-deplorable state of the Minna–Bida Road had been a major concern for Nigerlites, particularly residents of the Niger South Senatorial District.

He noted that these challenges are rapidly becoming history as the reconstruction work nears its final stages.
Furthermore, Hon. Manko maintained that the 5-kilometre road initiatives embarked upon by the Bago administration across the 25 local government areas of Niger State are steadily moving toward completion.
The Bida local government boss went on to praise the Governor’s heavy investments in healthcare infrastructure. He specifically pointed out the ongoing construction of an ultra-modern primary healthcare facility currently being built in Bida to boost grassroots medical access.
Turning to agriculture, Hon. Manko lauded the ongoing agricultural revolution sweeping across Niger State.
He specifically spotlighted the recent procurement of thousands of tractors and state-of-the-art farming equipment aimed at boosting food production.
Describing meaningful development as a gradual process, the seasoned politician called on Nigerlites to remain patient and supportive of the Bago administration, which he said is providing the purposeful leadership required to reposition the state for greatness.
Responding to queries regarding the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate for the 2027 election, Muhammad Nami, the Council Chairman dismissed him as “no match” for Governor Bago, who will be contesting on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Hon. Manko questioned Nami’s political consistency, pointing to his previous attempt to run for the governorship under the APC before stepping down to run for a senatorial seat. He noted that after losing that bid, Nami defected to the opposition party, allegedly admitting during a past interview that his current governorship run was simply a reaction to losing his previous senatorial primary election.
The Chairman further faulted Nami’s historical contribution to the development of the Niger South Senatorial District despite his influential former role as the Executive Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS).

Hon. Manko argued that apart from a police secondary school and a mosque located in Nami’s hometown, there is little evidence of broader developmental impact to justify his gubernatorial ambitions.
In conclusion, Hon. Manko maintained that the people of Niger State remain firmly aligned with Governor Bago and stand ready to return him to office with a massive vote count during the 2027 general election.
