NECO RELEASES 2026 INTERNAL EXAMINATION SSCE RESULTS

National Examinations Council (NECO) has officially released the 2026 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) Internal results.
The Registrar and Chief Executive of NECO, Professor Dantani Ibrahim Wushishi, announced the release during a press briefing at the Council’s headquarters conference hall in Minna.

Providing a breakdown of the performance data, Professor Wushishi revealed that 804,948 candidates, representing 58.67% of the 1,371,992 who sat for the examination, secured five (5) credits and above, including Mathematics and English Language.
Furthermore, the number of candidates who obtained five (5) credits and above, irrespective of English Language and Mathematics, stood at 1,162,118, representing 84.70%.
Professor Wushishi emphasized that the release of the 2026 SSCE Internal results marks the culmination of a rigorous process involving meticulous planning, coordination, assessment, verification, and strict quality assurance.
He noted that these measures were conducted within a framework designed to uphold institutional credibility and eliminate all forms of examination irregularities.
“As we release these results, we reaffirm our responsibility to ensure that certificates issued to students reflect their true academic performance not shortcuts, not impersonation, and not manipulation,” the NECO boss declared.
While expressing his gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other key stakeholders for his reappointment to a second term, Professor Wushishi highlighted NECO’s growing global recognition.
He noted that the 2026 SSCE Internal Examination was successfully conducted across the 36 states of the Federation, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), and six foreign countries, including the Republic of Benin, Equatorial Guinea, Niger Republic, and Saudi Arabia. He also revealed that a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed with the United States to further expand international recognition of the NECO certificate.
The Registrar assured stakeholders that the Council does not view itself as a rival to other examination bodies, emphasizing that NECO remains committed to continuous institutional improvement and global excellence.
