GOMBE PDP CLEARS PANTAMI FOR FRESH FOR FRESH GOVERNORSHIP PRIMARY ELECTION

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Gombe State has cleared the former Minister of Telecommunications, Professor Isa Ali Pantami, alongside Khamisu Ahmed Mailantarki and Usman Aliyu Garry, for a fresh governorship primary election.
According to a statement released on Friday, September 25, 2026, by the PDP State Publicity Secretary, Abdulkadir Ahmed Dukku, all three aspirants have been officially cleared to participate in the rescheduled primary election.
This development follows a ruling on Thursday, September 24, 2026, by the Federal High Court in Gombe, which nullified the party’s initial governorship primary and ordered a rerun to be conducted within one month.
“Following the nullification, the PDP wishes to inform all its card-carrying members that there will be a gubernatorial repeat primary election on Tuesday, 29th September, 2026,” Dukku announced. “All eligible voters are expected to assemble at their respective ward areas to vote for an aspirant of their choice.
“In a separate statement, the Gombe State PDP noted that it received the court judgment in good faith and respects the judiciary’s decision.
Crucially, the party welcomed the portion of the judgment that validated the PDP membership and entry procedures of Prof. Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami, confirming the legitimacy of his participation in the original May 2026 primary.
“The judgment is presently receiving the attention of the party leadership and contestants,” the party statement added.
“While the legal implications and directives contained in the judgment are being studied, we urge all members, supporters, and stakeholders of our great party in Gombe State to remain calm, peaceful, and united.
“Dukku further clarified that a separate verdict delivered Thursday evening by Supreme Court Justice Adamu Jauro does not affect Prof. Pantami’s eligibility to contest in the upcoming rescheduled election.
Consequently, the PDP publicity secretary advised party members to refrain from speculation and inflammatory comments that could cause unnecessary tension.
He assured stakeholders that the PDP will take all legal and necessary steps to safeguard its interests and maintain its democratic integrity.
