Following INEC’s release of the final list for the 2027 general election, it’s now clear that the 11th Senate will look very different as several APC senators did not make the cut after the primaries.”
They contested and lost APC Governorship Primaries:
1. Sen. Lola Ashiru – Kwara South
2. Sen. Umar Sadiq Suleiman – Kwara North
3. Sen. Saliu Mustapha – Kwara Central
4. Sen. Isa Jibrin “Echocho” – Kogi East
They lost their Senate return bids/primaries:
5. Sen. Danjuma Goje – Gombe Central. His bid for a 5th term ended here.
6. Sen. Neda Imaseun – Edo South
7. Sen. Ned Nwoko – Delta North
They were disqualified from APC primaries:
8. Sen. Ipalibo Harry Banigo – Rivers West
9. Sen. Benson Agadaga – Bayelsa East
10. Sen. Garba Musa Maidoki – Kebbi South
What this tells us: 2027 is about more than party loyalty. It’s about performance, internal party dynamics, and the ambition to move up. Some chose to chase governorships. Others were simply edged out by new forces within the APC.
