AMOTEKUN, OTHER COMMUNITY SECURITY OUTFITS MUST BE CONTROLLED BY POLICE –GUMI
Sheikh Ahmad Abubakar Gumi, Islamic scholar, has urged President Tinubu administration to immediately place Amotekun and regional -based security outfits, particularly those operating in the South-West, under the direct control of the Nigeria Police Force.
According to Gumi, if such regional security outfits are allowed to operate without Federal oversight it could pose risks to national unity.
He expressed concern that alleged xenophobic or ethnic bias within these organizations, if left unchecked, could fuel ethnic tensions and clashes across the country.
Gumi called on the Federal Government to take proactive measures to ensure that all security operations are conducted within a unified legal and operational framework to promote accountability and national cohesion.
