NIGER GOVERNMENT EXPANDS INVESTMENT IN ENTREPRENEURSHIP AND INNOVATION CENTRE

The Niger State Coordinator of the Entrepreneurship and Job Creation Centre, Shehu Bawa Bwari, says the state government has expanded investments in entrepreneurship and innovation centres to support self-employment and enterprise development among youths and professionals.

Bwari, also known as Jagaban Sabon Bwari, disclosed this while speaking with journalists in Minna, saying the investments were aimed at equipping students and young professionals with the skills, tools and mindset needed for self-employment and enterprise development.

According to him, the state has established entrepreneurship and innovation centres while training residents in different entrepreneurial skills, with many beneficiaries also receiving start-up support to establish businesses.

He said the interventions are intended to produce entrepreneurs capable of creating jobs and contributing to the state’s economy.

The coordinator maintained that the current administration has adopted a more practical approach to entrepreneurship development, unlike previous interventions that were criticised for having little visible impact.

He described entrepreneurship as a key driver of job creation and wealth generation, adding that the government would continue to implement policies that encourage innovation, support businesses and attract investment into the state.

Bwari added that creating an enabling environment for businesses to thrive remains one of the priorities of Governor Mohammed Umar Bago’s administration as it seeks to expand economic opportunities for residents.
