No fewer than 400 students in tertiary institutions across Nigeria have received scholarships and academic support under the 2025/2026 Scholarship and Academic Support Programme of the Sani Bello Foundation.

The initiative is aimed at expanding access to higher education and easing the financial challenges faced by students.

Director-General of the Foundation, Dr. Zakari S. Ikani, said the beneficiaries were selected from various institutions which include Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Federal University of Technology Minna, Federal University Birnin Kebbi, Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University, Federal University of Education Kontagora, Ahmadu Bello University, nursing schools and other tertiary institutions nationwide.

According to Dr. Ikani, education remains one of the most powerful tools for empowering young people and driving national development. He said the Foundation is committed to ensuring that financial constraints do not prevent deserving students from pursuing their academic goals.

He explained that the scholarship programme forms part of the Foundation’s broader efforts to promote educational advancement, support talent development and create opportunities for young Nigerians to excel.

“The Foundation has consistently invested in education through scholarships, academic support programmes, learning materials and other interventions designed to improve educational outcomes and nurture future leaders,” he said.

Dr. Ikani added that the Foundation’s vision extends beyond providing financial assistance, stressing that it seeks to produce responsible citizens, skilled professionals and agents of positive change who will contribute meaningfully to society.

He congratulated the beneficiaries and urged them to remain focused on their studies, maintain high standards of excellence and use the opportunity to make a positive impact in their communities.

Founded by Col. Sani Bello, the Foundation has continued to support vulnerable groups through interventions in education, healthcare, youth empowerment, community development and social welfare across Nigeria.
