KATSINA: KIDNAPPED RETIRED GENERAL DIED IN BANDITS CUSTODY

Major General Rabe Abubakar (Rtd), whose abduction by the Bandits was announced recently, has been declared dead while in custody of the abductors.

The death of the General was announced by the Katsina State Government in a statement issued on Saturday by the Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Dr Nasiru Mu’azu.

According to the statement, the retired Major General died from complications arising from diabetes and hypertension while in captivity.

“It is with profound sadness that we confirm the General’s death while in bandits captivity. Despite the concerted efforts of the Katsina State Government and various Security Agencies to secure his safe release, the situation ended in this tragedy,” the statement read.

The Katsina State Government described the late General’s abduction and subsequent death as a monumental loss to his family, Katsina State and the nation.

The Executive Governor of Katsina State, Dikko Umaru Radda, however, condoled the bereaved family and Nigerians, describing the incident as a dark moment and a reminder of the need for a united response against insecurity.

“The Katsina Government has described the death of Major General Abubakar Rabe in the den of Bandits as a ‘dark moment’ and a reminder of the urgent need for a collective and intensified front against the criminal elements threatening the peace of our communities,” the statement added.

He however assured the residents that its determination to tackle banditry and safeguard lives and property across the state remained unwavering.
