MONTHLY GENERAL LECTURE: ZONE 7 POLICE HEADQUARTERS EMPHASIZES DISCIPLINE, COMMUNITY POLICING AND PROFESSIONALISM

The Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 7 Headquarters Abuja, AIG Victor Olaiya, today presided over the monthly general lecture aimed at strengthening professionalism, operational efficiency, discipline and effective service delivery among officers, men and women of the Zonal Headquarters.
The lecture featured insightful sessions on several key areas critical to policing and national security.

Representatives from Police Insurance, Force Headquarters delivered a lecture on investment opportunities and financial planning, encouraging officers to embrace profitable and secure investment initiatives for their future stability and welfare.
The importance of discipline within the Force was also strongly emphasized, with officers reminded that discipline remains the bedrock of effective policing and professional conduct.
In another session, officers were sensitized on the Nigeria Police Social Media Policy, with clear directives issued on responsible online engagement, professionalism and the dangers of misuse of social media platforms by Police personnel.
The lecture further highlighted the growing need for community policing, stressing that successful policing can only be achieved through active partnership, collaboration and trust-building with members of the public and host communities.
The Operations Department was charged to intensify efforts and maintain heightened vigilance as the Eid-el-Kabir festivities commence across the Federal Capital Territory, Niger State, and other parts of the country, to ensure the safety of lives and property throughout the celebration period and beyond.

Additionally, officers were reminded that the Force Disciplinary Committee remains fully active and operational, with stern warnings issued against all forms of misconduct, indiscipline and actions capable of tarnishing the image of the Nigeria Police Force.
The Zone also reiterated the compulsory use of clearly visible and boldly displayed Name Tags on police uniforms, warning that any officer found violating the directive would face appropriate disciplinary action in accordance with the law.
The Zone 7 Headquarters reaffirmed its commitment to professionalism, accountability, operational readiness and improved police-community relations in line with the vision of the Inspector-General of Police.
