BORNO STATE COMMAND DETONATES IED IN THE STATE CAPITAL
An Improvised Explosive Device ( IED) concealed in a backpack was successfully defused on Tuesday by Operatives of the Borno State Command at Layin Logo, Moduganari area of Maiduguri, the State Capital.
The Borno State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Nahim Daso who disclosed this in a statement today said the bag was recovered at about 0900 hours during a routine operation. surveillance and foot patrol.
“On 5th May, 2026, at about 0900hrs, during routine. Surveillance and foot patrol, operatives of the Borno State Police Command recovered a suspicious bag abandoned at Layin Logo, Moduganari area of Maiduguri.” He said
According to him, “the Police Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Unit Base 13 was immediately deployed to the scene, where an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) concealed in the bag was identified and safely detonated in line with standard operating procedures”
The Police PRO however called on members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious persons or objects to the nearest Police Station
