SOLAR POWER PLANT: NIGER STATE GOVERNMENT SECURES $150 MILLION
The administration of the Niger State Farmer Governor, Mohammed Umar Bago has secured $150million dollars (USD) from the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) for a 100 megawatt solar power plant project in the State.
This development was disclosed by the Chairman of the New Niger Development Project ( NNDP), Alhaji Mustapha Abubakar Bida, during the 2nd edition of the quarterly media briefing organized by the Niger State Ministry of Information and Orientation.
He said that while the project is expected to cost $160 million dollars but the State Government will provide the $10 million dollars as a counterparts funds.
Alhaji Abubakar Bida maintained that the State Government was able to secure the loans promptly following the effective management of previous releases assigned for the re-construction of Minna-Bida Road.
The NNDP chairman said that the Solar mini-grid, which will be situated in Maikunkele, in Bosso Local Government Area of Niger State, will add value for the people and also create direct Direct and Indirect jobs, among many other benefits” he concluded.
He, however, called on the people of the State to continue to support Farmer Governor Mohammed Umar Bago as he leads Niger State to the promised land.
