BENUE GOVERNOR’S AIDE ARRESTED BY NAF WITH ILLEGAL FIREARMS

Officers of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) in Makurdi have reportedly arrested Mr Terfa Tsetim, a prominent aide to Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Alia, after finding him in possession of six sophisticated rifles.
Tsetim, popularly known as “Darkman,” also serves as the Youth Leader for the governor’s faction of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The governor’s aide was apprehended at a NAF checkpoint along the busy Makurdi–Gboko Road. Following his arrest, security forces transferred him to the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in Makurdi, where he is currently being detained.
During preliminary questioning, Tsetim allegedly told security personnel that the firearms were purchased and given to him by Mr Terfa Joseph Kwaghgba. Kwaghgba, who is the Executive Chairman of the Benue State Internal Revenue Service (BIRS), is known to be a close associate of Governor Alia.
The exact circumstances surrounding the procurement, possession, and intended use of the high-caliber weapons remain unclear.
It is also not yet known if security agencies have extended their investigation to formally question the BIRS chairman regarding the allegations.
This high-profile arrest comes barely three days after a violent assault on the Makurdi office of the Jos Electricity Distribution Plc (JED).
During that incident, a gang of about 50 thugs linked to the “No Alia, No Benue” group assaulted utility staff, abducted 10 workers, and carted away four vehicles along with vital equipment.
