WOMEN ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT: NIGER STATE MINISTRY PARTNERS GOVERNORS FORUM
The Niger State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, in collaboration with Nigeria Governors’ Forum, has declared open a five -day workshop on Women Economic Empowerment and the domestication of related policies in Minna, the state capital.
The representative of Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, Prof. Funmi Banjo, who declared the workshop open in a briefing held at Ministry of Women Affairs conference hall in Minna, said that the 5- day workshop will focus on five key areas.
The five areas included Agriculture, Entrepreneurship, Emerging Industries, Labour Market.
According to Prof. Banjo, a foremost authority on development policy and gender mainstreaming, the workshop will strategically position women in Niger State to become key commercial actors in the state’s economy.
She also assured them of International Development Grants and Federal Interventions specifically to this structural gender framework.
Responding, the Niger State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Hajiya Hadiza Idris Kuta, stated that at the end of the workshop, a comprehensive framework for Women Economic Empowerment policies would be created.
Meanwhile, the State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Hon. Obed Nuhu Nana, who was also present during the Press briefing, assured them of Niger State Farmer Governor’s support and his readiness to align with any initiative that will enhance the development of women in the State.
