VIGILANTES KILL SCORES OF BANDITS IN ZAMFARA STATE

Local Vigilantes in Zamfara State successfully killed scores of Bandits, including their kingpin, on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, during an attack on the Dogon Kade in the Kaura Namoda Local Government Area of the State.

The vigilantes were reported to have mounted a coordinated response when armed bandits launched an assault on the community, engaging them in a fierce gun battle that resulted in heavy casualties on the side of the attackers.

According to the Local source, the clash, which occurred in the early hours of the day, saw the vigilantes not only defend their community but also inflict a significant blow on the bandit network.

Those killed include, Alhajj Tukur, identified as a younger brother of the infamous bandit leader Kachalla Shehu Bagiwaye, a figure notorious for orchestrating numerous attacks and kidnappings across the northwestern region.

Meanwhile, the death of such a close associate of a major bandit commander represents a substantial strategic loss for the criminal network and a major morale boost for local defence forces.

Residents of the community widely commended the Local Vigilantes, praising their bravery and quick thinking.

However, the development highlighted the critical role that community-based security initiatives play in regions where the presence of formal security forces is often stretched thin. The vigilantes’ ability to effectively counter a well-armed bandit group demonstrates the value of local knowledge, intelligence, and rapid response capabilities in the fight against banditry.
